USC – VERNA AND PETER DAUTERIVE HALL (VPD)
USC’s Verna and Peter Dauterive Hall provides a critical link in the university’s efforts to attract transformative faculty and outstanding students in the social sciences. The space is one of a kind, devoted to interdisciplinary collaboration around real world problem-solving. The newly remodeled interior project that we we a part of caters to both the academic and aesthetic needs of the university.
Working closely with Jan Edson and USC’s Capital Construction Development team, we were able to provide the functional and practical needs for all departments, making each space cater to the end-users’ working habits. HKS Architects designed the interior space to include a full-height open atrium that provides natural sunlight throughout each floor. Tables and chairs are placed around each floor, bordering the atrium, to provide maximum collaboration, independent studying, or even a place to have an impromptu meeting.
